I made this concert ukulele because I wanted to try out a finish technique utilizing milkpaint, a traditional casein paint, and to see what a “doghair” finish would look like. The design was painted on the body and then, after drying, most of the paint was scraped off. What’s left is just the paint that filled the pores of the wood, in this case, 100 year old sinker mahogany. The top is curly redwood. These woods combine to give a beautiful rich sound from a vintage-look ukulele.
